In classic Major style, the family demands our laughter, sympathy and respect as they try to love one another while things fall apart: Kenya and Jackie, Amir's and Carlos's wives respectively, run a home for wayward teenagers. Darius, one of their charges with a troublesome past, adds to the Moore family drama, when he is drawn to cousin Jasmine jasmine (jăs`mĭn, jăz–) or jessamine (jĕs`əmĭn), any plant of the genus Jasminum of the family Oleaceae (olive family). , who sees in him more than a limited future.

The characters face uncertainty: Peggy must start anew, without her piece of a husband; Lenny has to accept all dimensions of his newfound new·found
