Position Overview
This position is responsible for all aspects of intellectual property for the company, encompassing new patent preparation and filing, existing patent maintenance, establishing and maintaining trademark protection, directing selective tasks to outside counsel, controlling non-disclosure and contractual agreements with 3rd parties conducting business with the company, and collaborating on a regular basis with the company's General Counsel. The position reports to the Vice President of Research and Development; a full time paralegal reports to this position.

Required Background
-Formally accredited patent attorney with license to practice in California
-6 or more years experience with substantial patent law firm and/or medical technology industry
-Undergraduate or graduate degree in engineering or life science; medical technology emphasis is a major plus
-Strong communication skills required
-Capable of both independent actions and productive collaboration with R&D personnel
