Director of Federal Government Affairs -- MICRON

Description
As the Director of Federal Government Affairs for Micron in Washington, DC, you will lead policy efforts and work as part of the global government affairs team. In this position, you will help ensure Micron’s competitiveness by supporting federal policies and regulations in the United States. As you help create and maintain Micron’s position as an important and responsive corporate citizen in the United States, you will communicate our public policy positions to elected officials at all levels of government. Working as part of an integrated Government Affairs team, you will establish and maintain a strong US federal government affairs program for Micron in Washington, DC.

Your primary focus will be on monitoring the activities of Congress and federal agencies and advocating Micron policy positions when appropriate. You can expect to maintain strong working relationships with key elected officials and their staffs. Additionally, you will lead and coordinate important national government affairs projects. As necessary, you will brief company executives on important policy efforts and assist them in the public policy process. You will also work with and provide direction to business and trade associations.

Qualifications
Successful candidates for this position will have:

* A minimum of five years of experience working with the federal government in Washington, DC.
* Knowledge of, and experience working with, various federal agencies, including the Department of Commerce and the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR).
* A history of interaction with trade and business associations.
* Previous experience as a lobbyist or government affairs professional.
* A background in, and experience with, technology issues.
* Strong presentation and communication skills.
* The ability to understand and discuss complex policy issues and legislation with key decision makers at all levels of government.
* The ability to brief company executives on important policy issues.
* Familiarity with the semiconductor industry and company products and issues.
* The willingness and ability to travel when necessary.

Education:
BS or BA is required; a graduate degree is preferred.
